Saturday Morning Car-what?

So. You all remember my horrified realization that Saturday moring cartoons have been, a bit lax lately?

Yes, it all happened a few weeks ago when I was at my parents' house and witnessed DINOSAUR KING, which is somewhat of a mix of Pokemon (I swear the Team Rocket spin people...the girl even sounds like Jesse and the other guy sounds like Meowth =_=), Digimon, bad CG, and Fighting Foodons plus a bit of Kirby Right Back At'Cha.

Then there was the incident with Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds (the "D" stands for DIMENSIONS) and the horrible realization that the hair in YGO was never ever going to get less lame, only more so. I believe this proves it (on the 4kids website about the main character Yusei): "Yusei Fudo is a cool, quiet, technically savvy, master mechanic and turbo duelist extraordinaire. Fueled with the hope of a better life for his friends, Yusei crafted the fastest and most competitive duel runner ever to kick it into overdrive! With a pride in his ride and unbreakable bond with his deck, Yusei is a gifted Turbo Duelist who can throw down with the best of 'em."

His rival is Jack Atlas if that proves anything else, Jack is the "Master of Faster!" whatever THAT means...

I think they realized YGO GX wasn't serious but they seem to be pretty gung-ho about this one.

Anyways the real point today was the sneak peak I happened to see of "Kamen Rider Dragon Knight" which is the American adaptation of the Japanese Kamen Rider. Unfortunately the original Kamen Rider was aired in 1971 and had 11 other following series, up until the newest which is being released in 2009, the unfortunate part is that suddenly this American one came out.

I usually don't care and grew up in the 90's so cheap action-drama shows are totally old hat for me...this is, disturbing. I mean, it being the bastard child of YGO and Power Rangers should be bad enough, but after watching what will be the whole first episode and going "what the hell is happening" every 5 minutes felt sort of wrong. There was way too much packed in there, too much plot and too much action trying to compete for time. I mean with the badass (but compassionate, handsome and understanding) kid who lost his parents who has a motorcycle, to the flying CG dragon and the fact that he looks like a cross from Beetleborgs and Lord Zedd...Yep it's going to be a good year for the franchise.

Ultraman, where have you run off to?

Oh also there's a new show where boys turn into dinosaurs by re-arranging their DNA.
